Everything you need to know about FIBA 3x3 World Tour Debrecen Masters 2023

DEBRECEN (Hungary) - The FIBA 3x3 World Tour lands at a favorite destination with the Debrecen Masters set to once again deliver an incredible event. 

Here is all the important information you need before the eighth Masters of 2023.

The action runs from August 26-27, and you can follow it live on the FIBA 3x3 YouTube channel. 

Who is competing in Debrecen?

This loaded draw has a total of 16 squads: Ub Huishan NE, Amsterdam HiPRO, Antwerp TOPdesk, Raudondvaris Hoptrans, Miami, Riga, Paris, Lausanne, Wuxi, Utsunomiya BREX EXE, Hangzhou, Tel-Aviv, Hannover, Debrecen, Zivinice AP, Rome

Who are the favorites?

They were finally beaten in Lausanne, but it would be plain wrong not to start with top seeds Ub Huishan NE (SRB) who - if you've somehow forgotten - won the first six Masters to start the season in a record streak. 

They'll bring their A-Team to Debrecen but might not have the fondest memories here having lost last year in a classic final to Antwerp TOPdesk (BEL), who enter this tournament with swagger after claiming the title in Lausanne. 

 

The Brilliant Belgians are not the only ones in winning form with Amsterdam HiPRO (NED) having clinched the FIBA 3x3 Quebec Challenger to end a mini-form slump. 

Amsterdam will renew a growing rivalry on Day One with Paris (FRA), who have looked the goods on the pro circuit but yet to take that confidence on to the World Tour. 

There are other contenders in a loaded field with new kids on the block Miami (USA) seemingly getting closer to a first title.

We haven't quite seen the best of Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU) this season but if Marijus Uzupis can unleash his uzi then it might make the Lithuanians  extremely lethal. 

Riga (LAT) have had an up and down season, but have shown their liking for the big stage by making the final at the Prague Masters. They'll rely on Olympic gold medalists Edgars Krumins and Agnis Cavars to lead them to a deep run. 

Who are the players to watch?

There is a nice blend of new and established stars descending into Debrecen, but perhaps the most anticipation surrounds 18-year-old Hannover phenom Denzel Agyeman who makes his World Tour debut. 

You can sure bet the springy Agyeman will be delivering dunk contest worthy slams in-game, but he won't be the only one with OG Kareem Maddox having put many sorry defenders in body bags during his legendary career. 

There are plenty of newcomers ready to continue their breakout seasons. We're looking at Hangzhou (CHN) pair Vladimir Trajkovic and Goran Vidovic, so too Lausanne MVP Jonas Foerts.

While sniper Marko Milakovic and excitement machine Franck Seguela will be aiming to once again cement their status as 3x3 stars.  

There might be arguably the best three players on the planet fighting for the crown in Debrecen with Ub superstar Strahinja Stojacic, Worthy de Jong from Amsterdam and Miami's Jimmer Fredette all having done ridiculous things on the half-court this season. 

We just know there will be other debates. Who is the best defensive player? Nemanja Barac or Dennis Donkor? The speediest player? Gilles Martin or Yosuke Saito? 

We can't wait to help settle these arguments at what promises to be another crazy edition of the Debrecen Masters.
