FIBA 3x3's dizzying numbers in 2023

MIES (Switzerland) - There weren't just crazy stats produced by players on the half-court in 2023 with FIBA 3x3 attracting record numbers across the board during this incredible season for the 21-point game. 

Let's take a look at the biggest numbers of our greatest season ever!

18 World Tour events & 23 Challengers (+47% increase on 2022)

Demand has steadily built for the World Tour since it started in 2012 and the pinnacle of the men's game soared to record heights in 2023. There were a staggering 18 events played from late April through to the recently concluded Jeddah Final

The pro circuit also stretched six months with 23 Challengers played almost weekly in destinations all over the planet to underline 3x3's global appeal. 

Overall it was a 47% increase in events from the previous year and you just know 2024 will be even bigger and better for the men's pro circuit.

23 stops on Women's Series (+91%)

FIBA 3x3's efforts in building up the women's game is underlined by a record 23 stops on the Women's Series.

From May to the showpiece Ulaanbaatar Final in September there was non-stop action as the best women players on the planet put on a show. 

It took the women's pro competition up another level after a bounce back for the Women's Series in 2022 following the interruptions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Having had an astonishing 91% increase this season, you can count on an even bigger slate of events in 2024. 

 

Here are some overall figures to underline the jaw-dropping growth of 3x3 across the board: 

  • 169 events in total (+91%)
  • 3522 games (+34%)

 

And the increased number of games and events led to more exposure with 3x3 enjoying rapid engagement on all media platforms. 

  • 1.1 billion views on social media (+107%)
  • 6.1 million followers across all platforms (+83%)
  • TV coverage in more than 170 countries (+112%)
