Beijing shock the World on Day 1 of FIBA 3x3 World Tour Hong Kong Masters

HONG KONG - Beijing impressed everyone on Day 1 of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Hong Kong Masters, the last stop of the pro circuit before the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final. 

THE TEAM

Couldn't be other than Beijing! The Chinese squad impressed everyone and started their Hong Kong Masters campaign with a victory over Utrecht Masters 2022 winners Liman (SRB) thanks to Yan Peng's 9 points and Marko Savic's game-winner.

Still not impressed? They went on and defeated Sakiai Gulbele on an incredible Maurice Lacroix buzzer-beater courtesy of Hanyu Guo.

Both Sakiai and Beijing advance to the quarter-finals in Pool B after the Lithuanians win over Liman (21-13)

Also undefeated on Day 1: Ub Huishan NE (SRB), Riga (LAT) - who extended their winning streak to 27 games,  and Vienna (AUT).

THE PLAYER

Karlis Lasmanis was the main character for Riga once again leading the World Tour 2020 winners in P-Val (22.1) and also in scoring with 26pts, including 16 (!) against  local favorites Hong Kong and 10 in their clash against Amsterdam HiPro (NED)

Karlis Lasmanis played hero for Riga leading them in scoring with 26 points and finished as #1 in P-Val (22.1)

4-time 3x3 World Tour winner Marko Savic put on a show for Beijing, leading everyone in highlights and key assists (9)

Stefan Stojacic (Vienna) scored 17 points in their win over Kaohsiung

Karlis Lasmanis (Riga), Tyler Kepkay (Hong Kong), and Nauris Miezis (Riga) collected a double-five today. 

Thibaut Vervoort (Antwerp) and Quincy Diggs (Vienna) were the only players who finished day 1 with a triple-five.
