Antwerp win 3x3 Bordeaux Challenger

Bordeaux (France) - Antwerp (BEL) won their first pro event of the 2022 season at the 3x3 Bordeaux Challenger on July 5-6.

The winners: Antwerp

Antwerp finished as the only undefeated team in Bordeaux and claimed their first Challenger win of the season defeating Princeton (USA) in the final 21-8 to win 15K USD.

Thibaut Vervoort led Antwerp in the final with 10 points and event MVP Caspar Augustijnen contributed with 7.

Bryan de Valck led everyone in rebounds (30) and Thibaut Vervoort and Caspar Augustijnen finished as 2nd and 3rd scorers with 32 and 28 points respectively.

The team strived on defense, limiting their opponents to an event-best 10.8 points per game,

The runners-up: Princeton (USA)

After finishing as runner-ups at the World Tour Utsunomiya Opener, Princeton once again came just short of the title. The team included FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2019 champs Robbie Hummel and Canyon Barry, and they reached the final after defeating Versailles (FRA) in the semi-finals.

Despite missing Kareem Maddox, the American squad won their first 4 games before the limit. Sadly their shots stopped falling in the championship game against Antwerp.

Canyon Barry led all players in player value (37.9) and finished as Top Scorer with 41 points.

The reward: Two tickets to the Debrecen Masters

Both Antwerp and Princeton qualified for the Debrecen Masters on August 27-28.

They join Serbian powerhouses Ub Huishan NE and Liman Huishan NE, who were already qualified.
