Antwerp and Ub impress on Day 1 at FIBA 3x3 World Tour Montreal Masters

MONTREAL (Canada) - Antwerp (BEL) and Ub (SRB) took care of business on Day 1 at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Montreal Masters 2021 on September 4.

After claiming their first-ever Masters title last weekend in Debrecen, Ub (SRB) extended their winning streak to seven straight Ws after finishing undefeated on pool play in front of a large Montreal crowd.

The Serbian squad didn't miss the Debrecen MVP Miroslav Pasajlic and won both games before the limit today against Lausanne and local favorites Old Montreal. Strahinja Stojacic stepped up and led the team in scoring on Day 1 with 16 points.

Riga Challenger winners Antwerp (BEL), World Tour 2020 winners Riga (LAT), and Los Angeles Masters 2019 winners Princeton (USA) also finished the pool stage with 2 wins.

Doha Masters 2021 winners Amsterdam Talent&Pro (NED) and Princeton clashed in a battle of giants in Pool D, with the American squad taking the win thanks to a Tissot buzzer beater from "Big Shot" Robbie Hummel when the game was tied with less than 5 seconds to go.

Belgium's 3x3 star Thibaut Vervoort caught fire against Edmonton scoring no less than 14 points, including 6 shots from behind the arc.

Edmonton's Steve Sir had an emotional moment on the court as he announced his retirement at the end of the 2021 season, meaning the Montreal Masters was his last 3x3 World Tour in Canada.
