Sao Paulo DC finish undefeated on Day 1 at FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico City Masters

MEXICO CITY (FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2018) - Sao Paulo DC finished with a 4-0 record on Day 1 at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico City Masters in Mexico on September 8.

The Brazilian squad came all the way from the Qualifying Draw, where they defeated Buenos Aires Obras (ARG) and Mexico City (MEX) to play in a Dynamite Pool D with Princeton (USA) and Saskatoon (CAN). Led by an amazing Jonatas Mello, they defeated both teams and finished on top of the pool, advancing to the quarter-finals.  They will be joined by Princeton (USA)  in the knock-out round as they defeated Saskatoon (CAN) in the last game of the day.

In Pool A, NY Harlem (USA) first dominated Bahía Blanca (ARG)  then they defeated  Piran (SLO), the number 3 team in the world,  to advance in the first position. The Slovenian squad will join them in the next round as they got an early win over Bahía Blanca. 

With Villa Maria (ARG) knocked-out early in Pool B Amsterdam Inoxdeals (NED) and Rio de Janeiro (BRA) played their last game to decide who would advance as first. Van Horst and Co. defeated the Brazilians 18-15 and finished on top of their pool.

Last but not least, Pool C was a thriller until  the end. With Ponce (PUR) and  Dehli 3BL  (IND) tied with one victory each, Ljubljana (SLO) had a must win game in order to qualify for the next round.  The 2-time World Tour winners defeated their Indian rivals to eliminate them and advance as second with Ponce as first.

In the shoot-out contest, Luis González (México City), Carlos Emory (Ponce), Kiran Shastri (Delhi 3BL) and Steve Sir (Saskatoon) advanced to the final in the Perisur Shopping Mall.
