Top 10 reasons to follow the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico City Masters

MEXICO CITY (2016 FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - The FIBA 3x3 World Tour is back like Schoolboy Q! With just one day to go, we look at the Top 10 reasons to follow the Mexico City Masters on FIBA 3x3's official YouTube channel.

1. MIC CHECK: He’s the best thing coming out of Kansas City since Janelle Monáe: Kyle Montgomery is back on the mic with more punchlines than two Kevin Harts.

2. LAST YEAR’S WINNERS: Team Denver (USA) won a thriller of a final last year in Mexico. Their top scorer Derek Griffin aka ‘Vanilla Gorilla’ is back. And so is his partner in crime James Harden doppelganger Corey Campbell. Sniper Alert: both players can shoot from any range like Ramsey Bolton (R.I.P. Rickon).

3. LAST YEAR’S MVP: The least we can say is Paris Kyles was key to Denver’s success last year. The 31-year-old scored the two biggest shots of the tournament back to back, to send the game to overtime and for the championship. But this year, PK sent a farewell banana to Vanilla Gorilla and joined Minnesota, the original team with which he made his first-ever appearance at the World Tour back in 2012.

4. THE THIRD BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD: So NY Harlem recovered nicely from their heart-breaking loss in Mexico, thanks for asking. In the World Tour Final in Abu Dhabi, while Denver disappeared in the quarter-finals, NY Harlem missed the title game for a last-second prayer. Disco Domo is back with his one-handed free throws and his unstoppable spin moves.

5. RIVALRIES: So Saskatoon (CAN) beat Denver 3 times in 2014 but Denver beat NY Harlem in overtime last year and NY Harlem beat Saskatoon in overtime last year as well. Saskatoon meet Denver again at 4.35pm local time (GMT+9) tomorrow. That’s a game you don’t want to miss.

6. REQUIEM FOR A DREAM: You probably read the story of Jonathan García and Andy ‘Corky’ Ortiz by now. We expect an emotional return to the World Tour for the sharpshooting Puerto Rican, who won the title back in 2012 but has not played at the World Tour for the last 3 years.

7. CRAZY DUNK CONTEST: The two professional dunkers coming to Mexico have never featured at the World Tour but we couldn’t be less worried. Jordan ‘Flight’ Southerland can dunk over cars before breakfast and Michael Purdie might be the best showman since Lipek. Don’t be the only one missing that contest live.

8. GOSSIP COLUMN: Denver brought two new players this season and one of them doesn’t have the biggest 3x3 resume in the family. Jason Abromaitis’ partner Ann Strother won the first-ever FIBA 3x3 World Championships back in 2012, on a team that featured WNBA superstar Skylar Diggins. Also, we hear Team New York City's Ro Parra-Grady is engaged to a Victoria Secret model...

9. FAMOUS SPONSOR: Team Caguas come to Mexico with the support of Wisin, one of the most famous artists in Puerto Rico. Make sure you put on some reggaeton when the boys are playing.
