Griffin tops all scorers at FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico DF Masters

MEXICO DF (2015 FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - Team Denver star Derek Griffin aka 'Vanilla Gorilla' led the scorers with 37 points at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico DF Masters.

The 31-year-old Griffin made most of his damage from behind the arc, scoring an amazing 14 long-distance shots, sometimes with an unreal degree of difficulty.

The 'Vanilla Gorilla' is a member of the exclusive group of (currently) 9 players who have played in all 4 editions of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour. With the win in Mexico DF, the US sharpshooter secured a third participation at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final, in Abu Dhabi on 15-16 September.

Griffin narrowly edged out Saskatoon's new star Nolan Brudehl (35 points), who started with a bang scoring 18 points in the first game of the tournament against Ottawa.

Griffin's teammate and tournament MVP Paris Kyles was third in the scoring charts with 34 points, but none more important than the two to win the championship.
