Team Ljubljana clinches second spot in 2015 FIBA 3x3 World Tour

NOVOSIBIRSK (2015 FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - Team Ljubljana (Tomo Cajic, Jasmin Hercegovac, Ales Kunc and Zelko Palavra) made another step towards recapturing their World Tour crown (won in 2013 under the name "Team Brezovica") by securing a second spot in the 2015 edition (in Beijing, after making it to the Manila Masters) following their win at the Siberia Open 2015, organised by GOO BC Yugo-Zapad on 28 June.

On 30-31 May, the former champs had travelled all the way to Singapore to earn a trip to the Manila Masters (1-2 August). The former champs proved once again they were ready to embark on long journeys to secure a second trip to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour in Beijing (15-16 August). The team out of Slovenia becomes the third team to qualify for both Asian stops of the 2015 FIBA 3x3 World Tour, after reigning champs Novi Sad Al Wahda (UAE) and Team Doha (QAT).

Ljubljana went undefeated in Novosibirsk, the third-largest city in Russia but escaped with a narrow 16-15 win in the final against Team Kompania, on a gorgeous Zelko Palavra fade-away jumper.

It was the first year the Siberia Open was awarded the status of international challenger and World Tour qualifier and the event proved to be a big local success.

The former champs become the 5th team to qualify for the Beijing Masters, after Chandigarh (IND), Doha (QAT), Novi Sad Al Wahda (UAE) and Jakarta (INA). The event will take place in the Wukesong Hi-Park, just outside the MasterCard Center, which was the venue of the 2008 Summer Olympics basketball tournament, on 15-16 August 2015.
